TOTS (Teachers of Tomorrow)
-
Advisor: H. McClain
The Teachers of Tomorrow program has two components:- Peer Tutoring: The purpose is to increase student achievement through a peer tutoring mentorship at LHS where both the tutor and tutee improve academic skills. Tutors and tutees are paired based on content area knowledge and areas of improvement as well as other personal factors. Students work together both during and after school based on scheduling needs.
- Teacher Career Pathway: The purpose is to expose students with an interest in a teaching/childcare career to the field through hands-on experiences at the elementary level within the the LCSD. This is a mutually beneficial relationship that allows LHS students the opportunity to explore the teaching career while assisting younger students in their classrooms. Interested students must complete a TOTS application and attend a mandatory tutor training workshop. Students interested in receiving tutoring in any content area must complete an Application for Tutoring Services found in the Guidance Office.
