General Notice:

  • The audit committee of the Board of Education was notified at the end of June 2021 by our government banking representative Josh Heim, that M&T Bank would no longer be doing in person tax collection. Valiant efforts were made to secure another bank for the collection, but none were able to handle the process within a short six weeks. That timeframe was driven by the need to print tax bills the second week in August that had to include the payment directions.

The audit committee did discuss having an in-person collection or drop box at the board office, but with the unknown's of COVID 19 and the Delta Variant they erred on the side of caution and chose not to bring the public into a closed area of the building where families were registering their students. The audit committee will be discussing the process for next year based on taxpayer input and available banking institutions willing to handle our accounts and provide the tax collection service at no additional charge.

We have been referring taxpayers to the S. Transit Branch Manager for additional clarification on why the branches chose not to do in-person collection. We are not the only school district impacted by the bank's decision. The South Transit branch number is 433-0203.
