Within the results, questions will surely arise. We will be answering some of those questions monthly in The Roar: Feedback series.

Question/Statement: Allow physical flyers in schools for free community based programs Students don't see emails from Peachjar therefore they don't know what is available in the community to keep them involved in our community.
Answer/Response: Fliers approved through PeachJar are also approved for distribution within the school. So, as long as you submit a flier through PeachJar, and with the permission of the building administrator, paper flyers may be posted around the school for more exposure to students or even distributed to students and/or sent home.

Question/Statement: Put more work into taking down fake LCSD pages on social media.
Cyberbullying is very serious and we do work hard to prevent it and respond to the inappropriate use of our school or brand/logo on social media platforms. Unfortunately, we often have to rely on the Social Media outlet to take action, but we do work directly with the local police department, contacts at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and vendors we work with to report, identify, and punish individuals who irresponsibly threaten or target our community. If you know of a group/page that is causing issues, please alert us immediately by emailing blicata@lockportschools.net or for matters of safety, information can be phoned or emailed to the Lockport Police Department Confidential Tip Line:

Question/Statement: We should be able to have backpacks. Maybe kids would not be as late to class anymore if at all.
We received several messages about backpacks. Although it does not pertain to the topic of communication in this exchange, we encourage students to reach out to their school administrators to make sure their voice is heard.
-
Question/Statement: I don't use Facebook. Having an alternative social media option would be great.
Answer/Response: We have an app - Lockport City School District mobile app. Download it to your smartphone or device from iTunes or Google Play to connect with any or all schools. We also post messages to Twitter and on our website at Lockportschools.org.

Question/Statement: The LCSD social media presence is increasing, but we still could do so much more. Families appreciate recognition for students and programs. This is our chance to share the good news of LCSD with the community.
Answer/Response: Thank you! Do you have good news to share? Send an email to blicata@lockportschools.net. We are always looking for news to share!
-
Question/Statement: Communication about upcoming events or unexpected occurrences keep the community/parents informed and alleviate rumors.
Answer/Response: The Lockport City School District relies on the Blackboard Connect Notification System to contact thousands of parents, students, staff, and community members securely within minutes. In order to help you stay informed, we request that you make sure your email, cell and other contact information is up-to-date in our student information system. If you need to update your information, contact your child’s school secretary. Community members, sign up to get the latest LCSD news by phone, text, or email here!

Question/Statement: I have noticed however since my son left elementary school that there has been a large decrease in communication about some things, ie clubs and sports.
Answer/Response: As part of our efforts to be environmentally friendly, embrace innovative technology, enhance communication, and maintain fiscal responsibility, Lockport City School District uses an electronic flier delivery system called Peachjar. Through Peachjar, each school, parent, or booster group can send e-flyers to its families, and outside organizations can send approved e-flyers to families in the school system. You can view each individual school’s flyers at https://www.lockportschools.org/Domain/1321. You should also be receiving any parent emails/newsletters/communications sent out on a weekly basis through our Blackboard Connect mass notification system that includes the Lockport City School District mobile app for your smartphone or device from iTunes or Google Play. The website also posts new information in District News and Announcements on the homepage www.lockportschools.org. You will also find the District and school calendars on the website.
