Dear Parents and Legal Guardians,

I am writing to inform you of an incident that occurred near Lockport High School earlier today that was witnessed by several students who were being transported to their BOCES program.

This morning, a student who was crossing Locust Street near the high school was involved in an accident with a vehicle, specifically the student was hit by a car. The incident occurred outside of the school bus loop and was promptly addressed by emergency responders.

Several students who were preparing to leave campus on a BOCES bus witnessed the incident. While they were not directly involved, we recognize that witnessing an accident can be upsetting for some students. School staff have been made aware of the situation and are available to provide support to any student who may wish to speak with a counselor or trusted adult.

We are sharing this information so that you are aware of the event and can check in with your child should they have questions or concerns about what they observed.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child's principal, Mrs. Dawn Wylke at 716-478-4501.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mathis Calvin III
Superintendent of Schools
Lockport City School District
