The Lockport City School District is pleased to announce the unaudited results of the Board of Education election and budget vote held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Voters elected three individuals to serve on the Board of Education. The newly elected board members are:

  • Tracy Caruso

  • Sterling Pierce

  • Leslie Tobin

The final vote for the trustees was as follows: Tracy Caruso - 629 votes; Mark Adair - 426 votes; Leslie Tobin - 670 votes; Sterling Pierce - 539 votes.

Each elected trustee will serve a three-year term, beginning July 1, 2025. The district extends its congratulations to the winners and thanks all candidates for their commitment to public service and dedication to the students of Lockport.

In addition to the Board of Education election, district residents approved three key propositions. The first was the adoption of the 2025–2026 school budget. Voters also passed Proposition 2, a $19.75 million capital improvement project designed to enhance learning environments and infrastructure at Charles Upson Elementary School, Anna Merritt Elementary School, Emmet Belknap Intermediate School, Aaron Mossell Junior High School, and Lockport High School. Notably, there will be no additional tax impact on residents, as the project will be fully funded through a combination of New York State Building Aid and existing Capital Reserves. Voters also approved Proposition 3, which authorizes the creation of a new Capital Reserve Fund in the amount of $10 million.

“We are grateful to our community for their continued support of our students, staff, and schools,” said Dr. Mathis Calvin, III, Superintendent of Lockport Schools. “These investments reflect our shared commitment to maintaining safe and effective learning environments, while remaining fiscally responsible.”
