Join the LCSD Family Empowerment Center for a VIRTUAL (or in person) workshop NEURODIVERSITY workshop for families.

This workshop provides a supportive and inclusive environment where parents & caregivers will:

• learn about neurodiversity

• develop effective behavioral strategies

• and enhance family communication

Led by trained professionals, the session will empower parents to create a more stable and predictable
home environment, strengthen parent–child relationships, and support their child’s academic and emotional success.

Introduction to American Sign Language, free beginner level lessons

• Communicate with anyone, any age, using ASL.

• Hearing loss takes an emotional toll on families.

• With ASL you can include everyone in your conversations - grandparents, babies, anyone with or without hearing loss or limitations.

• Everyone can learn ASL.

The LCSD Family Empowerment Center Peer Tutoring Program is an opportunity for students in grades 1st through 6th to receive free tutoring in a specific subject area.  Peer Tutors are Lockport Students in 10th-12th grade and are confident in the specified subject area they will tutor.

All tutoring sessions will take place at the LCSD Family Empowerment Center (FEC) at 57 Canal Street, Lockport, NY.  Transportation to and from the FEC is the responsibility of the parent.

Tutoring sessions will be scheduled during non-school hours at a designated time when the tutor and student are both available.  A LCSD Family Empowerment Center staff member or MBK Parent Advocate will always be on-site during tutoring sessions.

If you are interested in registering your child to work with a Peer Tutor please complete this registration form. You will be contacted by Laurie Ferris, FEC Parent & Community Liaison (lferris@lockportschools.net), once the form is submitted to complete the registration and match with a tutor.   One student per registration.
