Dear Parents and Legal Guardians,
I am writing to share an update regarding two separate concerns reported earlier today at Aaron Mossell Junior High School (AMJHS). One involved a student making a verbal comment that could be interpreted as a threat toward the school. The other involved a student making a hand gesture that could be interpreted as threatening toward an adult.
As soon as these concerns were brought to their attention, school administrators promptly began investigating both situations in collaboration with the Lockport Police Department.
Following a thorough review, the comments and gestures were determined not to constitute credible threats. The investigation found no indication of a threat to the safety of our students or staff.
Please know that the Lockport City School District takes all concerns involving potential threats seriously. We follow established procedures, work closely with law enforcement when appropriate, and use our Code of Conduct to guide our response and address concerns appropriately.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priorities. We will continue to respond promptly to concerns and work closely with our law enforcement partners to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
We appreciate the continued partnership of the Lockport Police Department and the trust and support of our families. If you have questions or concerns, please contact AMJHS Principal Kalie Sonnenberg at 716-478-4700.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to keep our school community safe.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mathis Calvin III
Superintendent of Schools
Lockport City School District
