Dear Charles Upson Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you about two separate incidents that occurred over the past two days at Charles Upson Elementary School. One student made a verbal threat to another student.  A different student brought an object to school that could have been perceived as a threat.

Upon learning of both situations, district administrators collaborated with local law enforcement to conduct thorough investigations.

I want to reassure you that the investigations, which concluded late last evening, determined that neither threat was credible. At no time during the school days were the safety of students, staff, or the school compromised.

Please know that we take every potential threat very seriously. When concerns arise, we act swiftly, conduct comprehensive investigations, and communicate our findings to families. Our District Code of Conduct guides us in handling such incidents to ensure a fair and thorough review.

We encourage you to speak with your children about the seriousness of making threats and the importance of appropriate behavior in school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact interim principal James Spanbauer at (716) 478-4400.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Sincerely,
Mathis Calvin III, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
