The Carter Family vacationed at Black Lake where they spent their time fishing. Their teachers will hear all kinds of fish tales when school starts! Tyler Carter is in 7th grade at AMJHS, Grant Carter is starting 5th grade at Emmet Belknap this year, and Wyatt Carter is beginning 2nd grade at Roy B Kelley.

🎶🎷 Several Lockport students recently participated in the Summer Honors Band Program hosted by Starpoint CSD! 🎺 This fantastic program brings together band students from Starpoint, North Tonawanda, Roy-Hart, and Lockport, ranging from grades 4-9. Our very own Lockport music teachers, Timothy Martin and Naomi Moore, played key roles in coordinating and teaching the bands during the two-week program. Pictured: Naomi Moore (Emmet Belknap music teacher), Preston Moore (entering grade 7 at AMJHS), and Gabriel Moore (entering grade 6 at EBIS). #SummerofLions

Now and then, we have the pleasure of celebrating our amazing staff and highlighting the fun things they're up to during the summer months. Last week, Emmet Belknap's Physical Education Teacher, Mrs. O'Neil, embarked on her first Empire State Ride—a 7-day journey from NYC to Niagara Falls—to raise funds for cancer research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Institute. She rode an impressive 569 miles and raised $6,219 to help end cancer. Mrs. O'Neil draws daily inspiration from her 16-year-old daughter and husband, both of whom are cancer survivors. Their strength fuels her commitment to this important cause. #summeroflions

After reading Esperanza Rising, Miss Torres's students at Emmet Belknap made homemade tortillas which are a popular food eaten throughout the novel. Students experienced making and eating their own tortillas.

Yesterday, our elementary school halls were filled with joy, nostalgia, and inspiration as seniors donned their caps and gowns for the cherished LCSD Senior Walk. 🦁❤️ Teachers greeted their former students while little lions cheered for the graduates they’ve looked up to for years. 🌟 This tradition celebrates our journey of growth, learning, and community. WE ALL BELONG. Congratulations, seniors – the best is yet to come! 🎉🎓 Reminder: Graduation is at Artpark on Thursday, June 27 at 6 pm.

It was Harvest of the Month in the cafeteria this week. K-6 students were offered a Taste Test featuring a new Creamy Yogurt Dip with cut veggies. Did you know that simply serving a fun dip with vegetables is a great strategy to eat more of them? It keeps veggies flavorful and makes them more satisfying. Thank you, Food Service & Wellness teams, for helping us get in our veggies! Be on the lookout in February when we get to sample a beet-infused applesauce. Beautifully pink and full of vitamins!
