The Lockport City School District is pleased to announce the unofficial results of the Board of Education election and budget vote held Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The newly elected Board of Education members are:

One-Year Term

  • Boy Peterson

The final trustee vote totals were as follows: Boy Peterson - 389; Thomas “TJ” Gray - 512; Alex Lamont - 549; Joseph Runfola, II - 488.

The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will serve three-year terms beginning July 1, 2026. The candidate receiving the least number of votes will serve a one-year term to fill the remaining board vacancy. The district congratulates the successful candidates and thanks all individuals who participated in the election process for their commitment to serving students and the Lockport community.

In addition to the Board of Education election, district residents approved two propositions, including the adoption of the 2026–2027 school budget and a $17.5 million capital improvement project focused on enhancing learning environments and investing in district facilities.

The capital project includes construction of an approximately 12,000-square-foot Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) addition at George Southard Elementary School with five classrooms, two special education classrooms, and support spaces. Additional project improvements include parking and playground enhancements, a pedestrian bridge replacement, and infrastructure upgrades. The project will also include renovations to Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT) classrooms as well as speech, counselor, and psychologist spaces at George Southard, Anna Merritt, and Roy B. Kelley Elementary Schools.

The capital project will have no additional tax impact on residents, as it will be funded through a combination of New York State Building Aid and existing Capital Reserve funds.
