At Anna Merritt, they're turning fun into funds! The fearless 2nd grade team is raising money for their End-of-Year Celebration—and they're willing to get inked for it (temporary tattoos, of course 😉). Donations were received and tattoos were handed out - the more that was given, the more tattoos the teachers and staff got!

🦁💙 Embrace our differences and support each other. Every student brings something unique to our classrooms—different strengths, perspectives, and ways of learning. That’s what makes our schools strong. When we take the time to understand and uplift one another, we create a community where everyone belongs and everyone can succeed. #WeAreLions #NeurodiversityAwareness

Anna Merritt had some spring time fun before Spring Recess! Second Graders at Anna Merritt practiced their egg-cellent word building skills! Mrs. Rudz's class went on an Easter egg hunt to find consonants and vowel teams. Students collaborated to create words and recorded them. Mrs. Maloney’s and Mrs. Noah’s reading groups at Anna Merritt participated in a “write the room” Easter egg hunt. Students had to look for high frequency words hidden in eggs around the room and match the word to a picture on their papers. The students had an eggcellent time!!

Small actions can make a big difference. Whether it’s offering a quiet space, rethinking how we give instructions, or simply showing patience—these everyday choices help create a school where every student, including those who are neurodivergent, can thrive. 💙💛 Let’s keep celebrating the unique ways our students learn, grow, and succeed—because inclusion isn’t one big gesture, it’s a series of small, intentional ones. #NeurodiversityAwareness

Students in grades 3–6 had an exciting opportunity to attend the Willie "Hutch" Jones S.T.E.A.M. Fair! They explored innovative science projects created by students from across Western New York and were truly inspired by what they saw. Several of our students left feeling motivated and even expressed interest in creating their own projects to enter the competition next year. We love seeing our young learners excited about science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math!

Students from Anna Merritt Elementary, Aaron Mossell Junior High, and Lockport High School West experienced the power of rhythm at the African American Cultural Center of Buffalo's Drum Workshop! Through traditional West African drumming, students learned fundamental techniques, explored the connection between African rhythms and modern music, and sharpened their listening skills by echoing beats back to the instructor. It was a hands-on, high-energy workshop that brought culture, music, and learning to life!
