Happy Custodian Appreciation Day!
Today, we give a huge shoutout to the incredible custodians across the district. 💙🦁 From keeping our schools clean and safe to lending a helping hand whenever it’s needed, our custodial staff are truly the unsung heroes of every building.
Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and the pride you take in making LCSD a welcoming place for our students, staff, and families.

On Tuesday, our schools joined together for Homecoming Spirit Week and to honor the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day). Students and staff across LCSD wore orange to show school spirit and, more importantly, to stand in unity with the message that every child matters.

We love a GO BILLS Friday! #GoBills

At LCSD the arts are more than performances and paintings - they're a vital part of education! The arts build creativity, strengthen problem-solving, and fuel our community. We are proud to celebrate National Arts in Education Week from September 14-20, 2025. #WeAreOneLCSD

This September and October, our schools are celebrating Hispanic Cultural Awareness with visits from Amor and Heritage, a nonprofit that spreads diversity, multiculturalism, and kindness through dance! In Lockport City School District, We All Belong is more than a tagline. It’s a shared belief that every student, staff member, and family is a vital part of our story. As we enter the 2025–2026 school year, we are embracing an additional theme: We Are One.
This year, we are celebrating what unites us:
- Eight unique schools.
- One unified district.
- One collective mission.
- One unwavering commitment to our students.
Though our buildings span different grades, neighborhoods, and traditions, our strength lies in our connection. From our youngest kindergartener to our graduating seniors, from new educators to long-serving staff, we are all part of something bigger that we build together.
What “We Are One” Represents:
One Purpose – We are all working toward the same goal: empowering every student to reach their fullest potential.
One Community – We are connected by shared values, shared goals, and shared pride in being Lions.
One Voice – We celebrate diversity and individuality while standing united in our belief that everyone matters and everyone belongs.
One Future – From literacy and leadership to innovation and inclusion, what we do in each classroom today builds a better tomorrow for all.
One Standard – High expectations. Strong relationships. Continuous growth. These aren’t goals for some schools—they’re values across the district.
Make sure to follow along this year on our Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, website, Lion Bytes newsletters, Lion Bytes: The Podcast, and District newsletters for ways we are show casing the "We are One" campaign!

It was a magical first for this family! ✨ Mrs. Stoll, a Teacher’s Aide at Anna Merritt, and her daughter London (heading into 5th grade at Emmet Belknap) took their first-ever trip to Disney this summer! From meeting beloved characters to riding iconic attractions, this unforgettable adventure was full of smiles, sparkle, and Disney magic. 💫

Kaedyn's summer was packed with firsts and favorites before he starts third grade at Anna Merritt Elementary. He went camping and canoeing for the first time at Tupper Lake in the Adirondacks, then headed to Lake George for the family’s annual getaway. The trip was fueled by tacos, lemonade, ice cream, and of course — perfectly toasted s’mores by the campfire! 🍫🔥

We had so many fun photos and stories coming in at the end of the year, we have a few leftovers we're going to share moving into the summer! At Anna Merritt, Mrs. Rude 's students wrapped up the school year with some camping fun! They told campfire stories, went fishing, and made smores- the perfect way to end the school year!

Field Day fun was in full swing at Anna Merritt Elementary last week too! From the school wide race to our students bringing the energy, teamwork, and plenty of smiles. A huge thank you to Anna Merritt staff and volunteers who made the day unforgettable, as well as the PTA at Anna Merritt! What a way to wrap up the school year with laughter, movement, and Lion pride!

In June, Ms. Mack's second grade class at Anna Merritt is celebrating Pride Month. They learned that everyone has reasons to be proud of who they are! Each student came up with seven reasons they are proud of themselves. The students shared some of their reasons and we celebrated each other!
