LHS DECA students put their hearts into action by collecting donations and creating heartfelt Valentines for hospitalized and homeless Veterans. Their kindness and generosity made a difference, reminding our heroes that they are appreciated and never forgotten.

New this year: High School Orientation (for current 8th grade students) will be run in conjunction with our College Fair on Monday, March 10th from 6:30 - 8:30.
High School Orientation: Doors open at 6:00, program begins promptly at 6:30 in the High School Auditorium. Parents, guardians and students will learn about: Scheduling, Extra Curricular Opportunities, Graduation Requirements. Social-Emotional Learning
College Fair: Begins at 7:15 in the High School Auditorium. Underclassman Students/Parents can arrive from 7:00-7:15 in the Foyer where they will be let in at 7:15 for the College Fair Panel Presentation. College Reps will be available in cafe 104 immediately following the Panel Presentation.

LCSD students showcased their incredible talent at the Black History Month Art School, where art became a powerful voice for history, identity, and inspiration. Students honored the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black leaders, artists, and change makers. Here's a sample of the work that is on display!
In celebratory of Black History Month, students had an unforgettable experience painting with Princessa Williams, who shared her journey as an artist and entrepreneur.
Princessa showcased her incredible murals from Buffalo & Niagara Falls, explaining how art uplifts communities and the effort behind large-scale pieces. She also encouraged students to explore ways to market and sell their own artwork. Thank you Princessa for hosting a great experience for our students!
FEC Workshop: Creating Family Safety Plan

Creating your family communication plan starts with one simple question: What if? Learn what to do if you are not with your family or cannot reach them during an emergency situation. Experts from Niagara University Border Community Service will also discuss what to have on hand in your home and vehicle and what to have in preparation for an emergency situation or extreme conditions.

January 29: Lunar New Year No School
District-wide there will be no school on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 for Lunar New Year.
Due to winter weather conditions, all schools in the Lockport City School District will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 for staff and students. This includes the cancellation of all after-school activities, sports, and events.
Student and staff safety is our top priority, and we encourage everyone to stay safe and exercise caution in these conditions. Thank you for your understanding.
Family Empowerment Center Workshop: Talking About Sexuality

Ten LHS students were selected by the Social Studies Department to receive the Student Spotlight Award for December. This award is presented each month by a different department and honors Lockport High School students who demonstrate a commitment to the ABCs of LHS - attendance, behavior and credits. These students are positive role models for their peers and work hard every day to make the most of their high school careers.
At LHS in Mr. Black & Mrs. Kowalski Earth Science class students dove into the science of streambeds with hands-on experiments and critical thinking by examining "how can depositional patterns be observed in stream beds?" Through exciting experiments and careful observations, students learned how natural processes shape our world.
LHS students in Mr. Rogowski's 3D Design class put their skills to the test by using Onshape to create custom holiday ornaments. From concept to creation, these young designers brought their festive ideas to life!

Bullying and Promoting Wellness for Students with Disabilities
Date: Wednesday December 04, 2024

Location: Family Empowerment Center, 1st floor of the Cornerstone Ice Arena (offered Virtually on Zoom).
In this VIRTUAL workshop, parents, caregivers, or educators of children with disabilities learn to recognize the signs of a bullying situation and how to talk to a child. Learn about the supports and services that can be built into the Individualized Education Program (IEP) to promote social growth and well-being.
