In celebration of Earth Day, students at Aaron Mossell and Emmet Belknap showed what it means to take pride in their school and community. The Go Green Club and the Girls Modified Softball Team at AMJHS and the Student Council at EB joined forces for an Earth Day clean-up. Together they made a positive impact right here at home. Happy Earth Day!

Staff and Student Appreciation Post!

Last week, George Southard held their monthly Lion Leader Award Ceremony, recognizing our youngest lions who make mighty acts of leadership and kindness! Not only did we celebrate our little ones, Mr. Hiller and Mr. Murray also awarded Ms. Tammy, the lead chef at George Southard with a special recognition. Not only was it her birthday over the long weekend, it was time to tell her (very publicly) how much she is appreciated! From learning our kiddos names and food preferences to always making sure our students are nourished and satisfied, Ms. Tammy and her crew play an important role at George Southard!

Last week, The Habibi Trio helped us celebrate Arab-American Heritage Month. While the band traveled throughout our schools and performed mini concerts for our students, these photos are from Lockport High School West where our students joined in on songs and kept talking about their unique sound even after the performance! The Habibi Trio blends unique instruments, soulful Arabic melodies, and intricate rhythms to take listeners on a captivating journey to teach about Arabic jazz and world grooves. They use a mix of percussion, viola, keyboards, and the oud.

Academies are LHS's own career-focused pathways that give students hands-on, real-world learning experiences. Recently, the business academy students took a trip to the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship in Rochester. Students had the opportunity to hear from local entrepreneur Cyndi Weiss, tour the campus, connect with current students during a Q&A, and put their skills to the test in a marketing and sales challenge.

Experiences like this show what the LHS Academies are all about - helping students explore their interests, build real-world skills, and take the next step toward their future in business and beyond.

Students and staff had a blast with Easter inspired activities like egg painting and games like the jelly bean chopstick challenge (45 seconds never felt so fast 😄). With sweet prizes like (Hello, peeps, jelly beans and chocolate), plus a staff breakfast, it was a great send-off into the break!

We will see you back in class on Monday, April 13!
