Congratulations to Chase, a 5th grade student at Emmet Belknap,, for his achievement at the Willie “Hutch” Jones S.T.E.A.M. Fair where he earned 2nd Place honors. Chase’s project explored the electrical voltage of fruits and vegetables, testing potatoes, apples, and limes across multiple trials to compare their energy output.

Chase confidently presented his findings through three rounds of judging, including a recorded session that highlighted his strong communication and presentation skills. He dedicated time over several weeks preparing his project with support from My Brother’s Keeper Ambassador, Mr.Anglade.

Way to go, Chase!

Last week, AMJHS students celebrated the start of the Winter Paralympic Games in PE class! Students learned about the Paralympics with an emphasis on the importance of inclusion and equity in sports. Students rotated through different Paralympic stations in the gym from both the winter and summer games. Students also watched a video made for them by Buffalo's very own 3-time Paralympic sled hockey gold medalist, Adam Page. Adam and his family created Greater Buffalo Adaptive Sports to give people of all abilities a chance to participate in activities they love. Thank you to Greater Buffalo Adaptive Sports for giving students this opportunity!

Emmet Belknap is just finishing up their winter diagnostic assessments in ELA and Math. This data board shows that our learners are growing! We have less "yellows and reds" and more "greens". In some cases, our "green" numbers have doubled since September! Our attendance is improving as well. Keep up the great work Emmet Belknap students and staff!
