Mrs. Rudz’s first graders at Anna Merritt Elementary had an exciting Glow Day! Students used highlighters to practice their writing and had so much fun learning in a glowing classroom atmosphere. It was a bright day full of creativity, smiles, and hands-on learning!
From 9th graders to graduates, we've been there for the moments that mattered, Class of 2026! As graduation approaches, we're taking a look back through the LCSD social media archives and revisiting some of the memories we've shared along the way particularly those featuring members of the Class of 2026 during their journey through our schools.

The LHS Concert Choir and Vocal Jazz Ensemble recently performed at the New York State School Music Association Major Organization Choral Festival. They were evaluated at Level 6, the highest difficulty, and were each awarded the top honor, Gold with Distinction. One of the judges said he never gave so many plusses! Their technique, unity, intonation, and overall performances were extraordinary. Mr. Pacillo is very proud of these young musicians for their hard work over many months.
Congratulations to our MBK (My Brother's Keeper) students from AMJHS, LHS, and LHS West. A celebration of their achievements, which featured an inspiring keynote address by Mr. Antoine Johnson, a program success director for the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI). Approximately 25–30 MBK members were recognized for their participation and accomplishments throughout the year and received certificates of recognition.
🌈 June is Pride Month, a time to recognize the history, contributions, and experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals and communities. Pride Month traces its roots to the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, a pivotal moment in the movement for LGBTQ+ rights and equality.
At Lockport High School, the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) helps foster a welcoming environment where students can connect, learn from one another, and support respect and understanding among all members of the school community.
Members of the LHS GSA recently gathered to mark the start of Pride Month with a flag raising ceremony and celebrate the values of inclusion, kindness, and belonging that help make our school community stronger. 💙💛

A special thank you to Cornerstone Veterinary Clinic, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Niagara County Sheriff's Department, and the Lockport Fire Department for helping our fourth graders learn about the many career paths available to them. Thank you for inspiring the next generation!

The Veggie Van will return to Emmet Belknap Intermediate School on June 9 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Community members are invited to register for *free*, fresh produce sourced from local farmers. Friday nights are for the Game Changers Program!
Students in 1st - 12th grade are invited to spend their Friday evenings developing basketball skills, building confidence, and connecting with positive role models through the free Game Changers Friday Night Basketball program at Lockport High School.
Held every Friday from June 5 through August 6, the program runs from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Lockport High School West Gym. Open to students in grades 1–12, Game Changers welcomes participants of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players.
Participants will have access to basketball clinics, coaching, mentoring opportunities, and guest speakers who will share valuable life lessons and encouragement both on and off the court.
Students should enter through Door #7 at Lockport High School.
There is no cost to participate.

The program aims to provide a safe, positive environment where young people can stay active, develop new skills, and build meaningful connections throughout the summer.

Lockport Family Focus Group’s 10 Annual Backpack Drive - Backpacks and school supplies are available for Eastern Niagara County families in need with children in grades K-12.

Students at Emmet Belknap recently celebrated the completion of their ELA Benchmark Unit 7 essays by sharing their historical fiction stories with peers in other homeroom classes! Topics ranged from Greek Mythology and the Titanic to the Holocaust, 9/11, the Miracle on Ice, and more. Through this cross-curricular project, students combined historical facts with creative storytelling while building confidence in their writing, speaking, and collaboration skills. Great job to all of our young authors!
LHS DECA students recently completed a project supporting Sister Helen’s Food Pantry at St. John the Baptist Church in Lockport. We are proud of our students for using their time, talents, and compassion to support an organization that makes such a meaningful impact in our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a success!

Last week Lockport High School inducted more than 200 students into eight subject area honor societies. Students received faculty nominations and met the requirements of the individual honor societies. Also at the ceremony, 41 juniors received junior awards from various colleges, universities and organizations. Some of these awards include the opportunities for scholarships ranging in value from $1,000 - $30,000 if the student chooses to apply to that institution. Congratulations to all!
