Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22nd to raise awareness about taking care of our planet. We’re excited to celebrate Earth Day and do our part to help the environment! 🌍 🌎 🌏

🦁💙 Embrace our differences and support each other.
Every student brings something unique to our classrooms—different strengths, perspectives, and ways of learning. That’s what makes our schools strong.
When we take the time to understand and uplift one another, we create a community where everyone belongs and everyone can succeed.

LHS students had an egg-citing surprise before spring recess!
Hidden around the school were special eggs—and those lucky enough to find one could turn it in at the main office for a prize. Just a fun and festive way to keep everyone engaged and energized before the break!

Anna Merritt had some spring time fun before Spring Recess!
Second Graders at Anna Merritt practiced their egg-cellent word building skills! Mrs. Rudz's class went on an Easter egg hunt to find consonants and vowel teams. Students collaborated to create words and recorded them.
Mrs. Maloney’s and Mrs. Noah’s reading groups at Anna Merritt participated in a “write the room” Easter egg hunt. Students had to look for high frequency words hidden in eggs around the room and match the word to a picture on their papers. The students had an eggcellent time!!

Aaron Mossel JHS students in Mr. Schmidt's Social Studies class visited the AMJH library for a Lewis & Clark Escape Room experience. Students used notes and what they learned to solve 5 clues related to the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

After learning about Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and French artists, LHS French 4 and 5 students visited the AKG Art Museum to see the works of art studied, which are part of the permanent collection of the AKG. Students enjoyed a guided tour, seeing the art in person, and also learning about current exhibits.

Emmet Belknap students completed the first Fuel Up challenge of the year: reset yourself with dairy. Participating classrooms got to create their own healthy yogurt tube snacks using 3 simple ingredients (yogurt, fruit, & honey). A special thanks to Aramark for their generosity providing all the supplies & visit FuelUpChallenge.com to join the health and wellness program.

Small actions can make a big difference.
Whether it’s offering a quiet space, rethinking how we give instructions, or simply showing patience—these everyday choices help create a school where every student, including those who are neurodivergent, can thrive. 💙💛
Let’s keep celebrating the unique ways our students learn, grow, and succeed—because inclusion isn’t one big gesture, it’s a series of small, intentional ones. #NeurodiversityAwareness

#ThrowbackThursday vibes!
Mr. Hall, LHS STEM teacher, rocked his vintage DeWitt Clinton sweatshirt for a true Lockport City School District throwback. Mrs. Bitka (also pictured) was his Kindergarten teacher years ago. For those who may not know, DeWitt Clinton used to be an elementary school in our district years ago! Once a Lion, always a Lion. 🦁💙💛

Congratulations to Mrs. Currie's class on winning the first ever Emmet Belknap's Physical Education March Madness Bracket Challenge. They successfully chose Florida to win the Men's NCAA Basketball Championship and their bracket scored a school high 148 points, earning them an extra PE class!

Mrs. Ingraham and Miss Flick’s students at Emmet. Belknap have been reading the book Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper. A few students made communication boards to experience a day in the life of Melody, the main character in the book who has cerebral palsy.

Congratulations to Aaron Mossell JHS's PageTurners and Coach Lisa Cleveland for placing 3rd in a fierce competition at finals this week! Their winning plaque is proudly hanging in the building entrance. Go Lions!

Charles Upson hosted a March Mathness family night! Students and families played games and learned new ways to practice their math skills at home. They played games in the gym that were centered around math and even got some exercise. Over 20 community partners here talking with families, giving out helpful information out. It was a fun night at CAU!

Today we are recognizing the incredible teacher assistants, aides, and mediators who make a difference every day at LCSD!
Our paraprofessionals provide essential support to students and teachers, creating a positive and successful learning environment. Their dedication, kindness, and hard work do not go unnoticed!
Thank you to all of you!

LHS students had the amazing opportunity to spend the day at the Golisano Institute of Business and Entrepreneurship in Rochester last week.
Students learned about the unique model of higher education that the Institute can provide post-graduation. - "Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship delivers a higher-quality, no-debt, accelerated business education that sets you up for economic success."
Lockport students got to hear from a panel of current Institute students and we also got a lesson by one of their faculty members, a Masterclass on Current State of Economy & Applied Economics. It was a great day and a promising partnership for LHS business students!

On Friday, March 21st, students from George Southard, Emmet Belknap, and Aaron Mossell Junior High had the incredible opportunity to participate in a workshop led by Antoine Johnson, a dynamic speaker and Program Success Director at the National Fatherhood Initiative.
Antoine’s message focused on three powerful words: persistence, initiative, and opportunities—and how these values shape who we are and who we can become. He shared his personal journey of growing up without a father figure, opening up important conversations with students about resilience, role models, and striving for excellence.

Students in grades 3–6 had an exciting opportunity to attend the Willie "Hutch" Jones S.T.E.A.M. Fair! They explored innovative science projects created by students from across Western New York and were truly inspired by what they saw. Several of our students left feeling motivated and even expressed interest in creating their own projects to enter the competition next year. We love seeing our young learners excited about science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math!

Anna Merritt Elementary's STEM Club built peep houses out of wafers, jelly beans, glue, and fake grass to celebrate spring!
