Ten LHS students were selected by the Social Studies Department to receive the Student Spotlight Award for December. This award is presented each month by a different department and honors Lockport High School students who demonstrate a commitment to the ABCs of LHS - attendance, behavior and credits. These students are positive role models for their peers and work hard every day to make the most of their high school careers.

At LHS in Mr. Black & Mrs. Kowalski Earth Science class students dove into the science of streambeds with hands-on experiments and critical thinking by examining "how can depositional patterns be observed in stream beds?" Through exciting experiments and careful observations, students learned how natural processes shape our world.

LHS students in Mr. Rogowski's 3D Design class put their skills to the test by using Onshape to create custom holiday ornaments. From concept to creation, these young designers brought their festive ideas to life!

Mark your calendars: Winter recess begins on Monday, December 23, 2024, and continues through Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Classes will resume on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Enjoy a restful and happy break!

🌍 International Day of Persons with Disabilities 🌟

By raising awareness, we can all play a part in fostering inclusion in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life. Together, let’s celebrate the diverse contributions and talents of persons with disabilities and continue striving for a more equitable and inclusive world. 💙

Students in Mrs. Mackey’s class at LHS had the incredible opportunity to learn from Indigenous Educator Perry Ground, who guided them through the traditional creation of No Face Dolls. These special dolls, crafted from corn husks, carry deep cultural meaning. In Indigenous storytelling, the absence of a face on the doll is a powerful reminder for children: it symbolizes a cautionary tale that teaches the importance of listening to elders and behaving respectfully.

🌟🇺🇸 A special shoutout to Mrs. Martin's class at Charles Upson, where students learned about the importance of Veteran's Day! LCSD wishes all veterans a heartfelt Happy Veteran's Day! 🙏✨ We’re especially proud to recognize teachers like Mrs. Martin, who served in the United States Air Force. Thank you for your service and for inspiring our students! #VeteransDay #LionProud

Officer O'Connor, School Resource Officer, visited Mrs. Roth’s 11th grade ELA class at LHS to talk about gathering evidence in crime investigations, giving students valuable insights as they dive into a mystery story in class! 🕵️♂️📖

Students at LHS had the opportunity to connect with a representative from St. John Fisher University, learning about future college possibilities. Exploring different pathways and options is a great way for our students to think ahead and find the best fit for their goals. #WeAllBelong
