This Thanksgiving season, our elementary students embraced creativity, gratitude, and fun! Mrs. Garis’ kindergarten class read Turkey Trouble and cleverly disguised turkeys with help from their families to keep them safe from Thanksgiving dinner. At Anna Merritt, third graders enjoyed their annual Friendsgiving, celebrating their classroom family and sharing what they’re thankful for, including friends, school, and teachers, all while enjoying a delicious feast. To top it off, students got into the holiday spirit by dressing up as turkeys, bringing smiles and laughter to the celebration! 🦃🍂

Mrs. Key’s 6th graders at Emmet Belknap embraced the cafe vibe as they crafted their end-of-unit character essays! With chocolate milk, treats, and a cozy atmosphere, creativity and inspiration were flowing.

Third and fourth grade students from Anna Merritt’s STEM Club work hands-on and collaboratively in small groups to make fall themed marble mazes using materials that can be found at home. The students were given a table of materials and a challenge and it was up to them to brainstorm, plan, build, and revise a functional maze from start to finish.

Students in Mrs. Mackey’s class at LHS had the incredible opportunity to learn from Indigenous Educator Perry Ground, who guided them through the traditional creation of No Face Dolls. These special dolls, crafted from corn husks, carry deep cultural meaning. In Indigenous storytelling, the absence of a face on the doll is a powerful reminder for children: it symbolizes a cautionary tale that teaches the importance of listening to elders and behaving respectfully.
